National Student Leadership Conference

As a Team Advisor, I lead 32 (two groups of 16) high school students through a Psychology & Neuroscience-based college prep conference. I lead lectures, supervised activities, facilitated leadership-building challenges, and worked with other TAs to create a safe and enjoyable environment for the students. This summer we had over 200 students and worked 16+ hours a day for a month to provide an exciting educational experience. My personal favorite activities included the Robo-Roach surgeries, sheep brain dissections, and field trips to Fisherman’s Warf.

Field trips to Fishermans Warf, Pier 39 and Dolores Park

Some slides from my lecture. My portion focused on memory and discussed topics like encoding, reinforcement, heuristics and amnesia. My goal was to make the material accessible for students of all levels.

Students watched The Stanford Prison Experiment. This film highlights the importance of ethical considerations within a psychological study and the need for and IRB
