Undergraduate Teaching Assistant-Research Methods

As an undergraduate TA for an introductory psychology class, I was able to help aspiring psychology majors reach their goals. I answered questions, reviewed assignments, provided study tips, and held office hours. This experience helped me learn to communicate complicated topics effectively and from multiple viewpoints.

Providing Feedback

During my office hours and on submitted assignments I reviewed materials and provided feedback. This included edits for spelling and grammar, content, topic choice, and tone.

Teaching

I assisted in running lessons, passing out materials, and answering questions in quiz sections. During my office hours, I often provided deeper explanations of class content or new ways to look at concepts.

Collaborating

With over 150 students in the class, the teaching team of 9 had to work together seamlessly. I aided by suggesting content, filtering questions, and maintaining communication with the team.

Organizing

I helped organize the team inbox for the course. We received emails about personal and class matters, which I replied to or flagged for the corresponding team member.

Advising

I answered questions about the program as a whole, time management, extracurriculars, and other non-course-related topics. I also highlighted available resources and relevant events.

Moderating

During the lectures, I monitored the chat, PollEverywhere, and Slack channel to respond to submitted questions in real time.
